CEC -Assam's No.1 institute, having a
reputation for conducting National level shows in Guwahati since 2000,
had organized a mega event titled "Assam Fashion Week'2005" from 19th
September to 24th September at NEDFi -Haat and 'Pragjyoti'
ITA-Machkhowa Cultural Complex in Guwahati. The Assam Fashion Week was
organised by CEC with a view to rectify the deterioration that has
engulfed the fashion scenario in the past couple of months and present
before the Assamese people fashion in its true light and flavour .This
weeklong event which was held in NEDFi Haat was the brainchild of
Dipanka r Dutta and it is being supported by various design gurus of
Assam had put forwarded a platform for upcoming designers of the
region to come forward and exhibit their talent. This Assam fashion
week concludes with an Assamese bridal wear contest followed by
fashion show at ITC Cultural Complex in Machkhowa. In this attempt CEC
is grateful to the press and electronic media for their support and
equally thank the masses for their overwhelming response .
+ On Day one (19th Sept.) "Assam Fashion Week" was inaugurated by
renowned Assamese film personality Mr. Pranjal Saikia & Mrs. Purnima
Pathak Saikia in a grand opening ceremony at 11.30am in NEDFi Haat.
This was followed by Free Modelling Training Camp held by experts.
Almost 15 designers from all over the North East had put up their
stalls in NEDFi Haat.
+ On Day two (20th Sept.) there was a get-together of the Designers
from all over Northeast at NEDFi Haat. 5pm.
+ On Day Three (21st Sept.) the designers & Beauticians of Northeast
gave Free Make-over tips to the youngstars. This occasion was also
graced by Mrs. Arunima Dutta, Mrs. India World (1st Runner up)
+ On Day four (22nd Sept.) the Free modeling camp was concluded and
there was the selection of Models for participate in coming-up events
in Guwahati. Almost 70 upcomming models took part in the camp.
+ On Day five (23rd Sept) the designers had interacted & explained the
press with their designs with live models in Nedfi Haat at 12 noon.
+ Day six (24th Sept.) the Mega Event :
The designers had displayed in
sequence & the Assamese Bridal Wear contest was held from 4 pm onwards
at Pragjyoti, ITA-Machkowa Cultural complex, Guwahati. About 50
designers from all over North east had participated in this mega event
with their designs. For the first time there was a Ramp Show on
Pragjyoti, ITA-Machkhowa cultural complex for the fashion show and
Assamese Bridal wear contest. For the first time in Guwahati over 100
models walked in the ramp wearing various traditional and modern
designer collections of the participating designers. Celebrities like
Super model Aryan Baruah, Actor Nishita Goswami, Barasha Rani Bishaya
also shared the ramp for the first time in Guwahati on this mega
fashion Show. Mrs. Arunima Dutta, Mrs. India World (1st Runner up) was
also present in this occasion.

Kheholi Kinimi (Nagaland), Anu Mandal (Golaghat), Aremla Zamir (
Nagaland), Juliejyoti & Aditya (Guwahati), Dipankar Kashyap (Guwahati)
Prasantt Ghosh (Guwahati), Tanya Nanghinza (Guwahati), Pinaki, Purnima,
Karabi (Biswanath Chariali), Wan Kharbuli (Shillong), Pallavi Deka (Guwahati),
Sandeep Cheriyan, Prasantt Singha, Daksa Salam, Mridul, Manjit,
Krishna, Manjurani, Paramita, Salma, Dipankar, Jaya, Pinky, Bikash,
Archana (Guwahati) etc.
