“2nd
Assam Fashion Week” at ‘Pragjyoti’, ITA –Machkhowa cultural
complex from 21st November to 25th November, 2006.

CEC - Assam’s No.1 institute, the fastest growing local firm
endeavouring to produce the best events in this region in its
own signature style and having a reputation for conducting
National level shows in Guwahati since 2000, organized a mega
event titled “ 2nd Assam Fashion Week’2006” from 21st November
to 25th November at ‘Pragjyoti’ ITA-Machkhowa Cultural Complex
in Guwahati, Assam. Starting with Mega Model Contest in 2000,
CEC for the first time introduced ‘Northeast Designers
Contest’ in 2001 giving huge platform to the designers of the
region. In 2003, 2004 & 2005, CEC came with its unique concept
of Mr. & Mrs. Guwahati, a contest for married couples. The
latest feather in our cap is a fashion show in Bangkok,
Thailand in February’2006, titled ‘Parampara’.
The Assam Fashion Week is organised by CEC with a view to
rectify the deterioration that has engulfed the fashion
scenario in the past couple of months and present before the
Assamese people fashion in its true light and flavour .This
weeklong event which is being held in ‘Pragjyoti’
ITA-Machkhowa Cultural Complex is the brain child of Dipankar
Dutta and it is being supported by various design gurus of
Assam has put forwarded a platform for upcoming designers of
the region to come forward and exhibit their talent. This
Assam fashion week concludes with a bridal wear contest
followed by fashion show at ITC Complex in Machkhowa. In this
attempt CEC is grateful to the press and electronic media for
their support and equally thank the masses for their
overwhelming response.
+ On Day one (21st Nov.) The 2nd “Assam Fashion Week” was
inaugurated by renowned Actor Mr. Biju Phukan at 1.00 pm with
an inaugural Fashion Show in ‘Pragjyoti’ ITA-Machkhowa
Cultural Complex. There was also an Exhibition of Designers’
Garments & Jewelleries. This year CEC is going a step further
by inviting designers and models of repute from the fashion
circuit of India and abroad. Sujit Chakraborty, from Kolkata,
who carries an experience of 10 years, running a Boutique
under the Banner of Jharona's in Kolkata having various range
of clients like former Miss India Susmita Sen, Director /
Actor Aparna Sen, Director Rituporno Ghosh and our Former
Indian Captain Sourav Ganguli,etc have also participate in
this year.
+ On Day two (22nd Nov.) Mrs. Bhanu Sarmah, Beauty consultant
from gave free Beauty & Fashion Tips at ‘Pragjyoti’
ITA-Machkhowa Cultural Complex. There was a Ramp show in the
evening.
+ On Day Three (23rd Nov.) The exhibition of Designers’
Garments & Jewelleries is extended till 24th November. In the
evening there was a special Ramp show with Live music from
5.30pm to 7.30pm.
+ On Day four (24th Nov.) Supermodel & Choreographer Ms.
Nayanika Chatterjee, Mrs Richa Bansal, Executive Editor of
IMAGES (Magazine) judged the designer contest round of Assam
Fashion Week. Mrs Arunima Dutta, Mrs India-World, runnerup was
also the special guest of the show. The designers displayed in
sequence & the Bridal Wear contest was also held from 5.30 pm
onwards at Pragjyoti, ITA-Machkowa Cultural complex, Guwahati.
About 35 designers from all over North east participated in
this mega event with their designs. There was a special
“Fashion Talk” by Mrs. Richa Bansal, Executive Editor, IMAGES,
New Delhi at 6.30pm. Supermodel cum choreographer Ms. Nayonika
Chatterjee also addressed the audience. This was followed by a
Grand Ramp show at by Fashion Designers of Northeast.
+ On Day five (25th Nov.) Red-carpet welcome was given to the
Invitees / Celebrities at 5pm. The Grand Finale was from
5.30pm to 9.00pm by renowned Fashion Designers of India. Over
100 models walked in the ramp wearing various traditional and
modern designer collections of the participating designers.
Celebrities like Nishita Goswami , Sima Das also shared the
ramp on this mega fashion Show.
