CEC - Assam’s No.1 institute, the fastest
growing local firm endeavouring to produce the best events in this
region in its own signature style and having a reputation for conducting
National level shows in Guwahati since 2000, organized a mega event
titled “3rd Assam Fashion Week’2007” from 19th December to 22nd December
at ITA-Machkhowa Cultural Complex in Guwahati, Assam. Starting with Mega
Model Contest in 2000, CEC for the first time introduced ‘Northeast
Designers Contest’ in 2001 giving huge platform to the designers of the
region. In 2003, 2004 & 2005, CEC came with its unique concept of Mr. &
Mrs. Guwahati, a contest for married couples. The latest feather in our
cap is a fashion show in Bangkok, Thailand in February’2006, titled ‘Parampara’.
The Assam Fashion Week organised by CEC with a view to rectify the
deterioration that has engulfed the fashion scenario in the past couple
of months and present before the Assamese people fashion in its true
light and flavour .This event which was held in ITA-Machkhowa Cultural
Complex is the brain child of Dipankar Dutta and it was supported by
various design gurus of Assam had put forwarded a platform for upcoming
designers of the region to come forward and exhibit their talent. This
Assam fashion week was concluded by a mega fashion show at ITC Complex
in Machkhowa on 22nd December. In this attempt CEC is grateful to the
press and electronic media for their support and equally thank the
masses for their overwhelming response in the shows.
+ On Day one (19th December) = The 3rd “Assam Fashion Week”
was inaugurated at 4.00 PM in the evening by renowned writer and social
activist Dr. Mamoni Raisam Goswami followed by an inaugural clubbed
fashion show by renowned designers of Assam & North East in
ITA-Machkhowa Cultural Complex. For the first time the renowned fashion
designers displayed their creations in a very special clubbed fashion
show. The designers were Bhaskar Dutta Goswami, Nandini Baruva, Dipankar
Kashyap, Dhiraj Deka, Barsha Phukan, Prasant Ghosh, Sandeep Cherian
(Assam), Amitabh Tripathi (Kolkata), Joy Singh (Manipur), Arenmongla (Nagaland)
and Soma Karmakar (Meghalaya). The preliminary round of Adonis Man hunt
competition held in this day. A 3 day long modeling camp for the
aspiring models was also started from the day.
+ On Day two (20th December) =
This year a special Fashion Sketch contest was organized for the
aspiring fashion designers of this region. The designers have to submit
a sketch of a design on B/W or color for the competition. On the second
day a fashion seminar on “Fashion Entrepreneurship” was held in the ITA
complex. A special presentation on “Beauty & Fashion” was also held in
the ITA Complex. There was a Ramp show in the evening.
+ On Day Three (21st December) =
The modeling camp was concluded in this day. The selected models from
this camp took part in the grand finale of Assam Fashion week. A fashion
quiz contest was also held from 12.30 onward followed by a special
makeover session by renowned beauty specialists. In the evening the
final round of Adonis Male Hunt contest was held which was followed by a
garments display show by the budding fashion designers.
+ On Day four (22nd December) =
The Grand Finale was inaugurated by renowned actor Pranjal Saikia at
5.30 pm at ITA , Machkhowa Cultural complex. For the first time the
garments buyers were invited for the selection and placing their orders
from the designers display rounds. The designers displayed in sequence
from 5.30 pm onwards at Pragjyoti. About 35 designers from all over
North east showcased their creations in this mega event with their
designs. This was followed by a Grand Ramp show at by Fashion Designers
of Northeast. Over 100 models walked in the ramp wearing various
traditional and modern designer collections of the participating
designers. There was a special corporate Round by IIBM New Delhi
followed by a special round for celebrities on this mega fashion Show.
